Why did you become a Professional Chef?

 
 

I grew up in a food-centered household, inspired by my father, a lifelong chef, and developed a passion for cooking at an early age. At 12, I began working in my grandmother’s neighborhood restaurant, starting with bussing tables before learning kitchen prep alongside my father. Over 15 years in the industry, I gained hands-on experience crafting a wide range of dishes. Wanting to refine my skills, I enrolled in culinary school—a pivotal decision that elevated my career. Today, I blend tradition with innovation, honoring my family’s legacy while forging my own path in the culinary world.

 

Did you ever want to be anything other than a chef for a career choice?

From the moment I picked up my first instrument, music became central to my life. I dedicated myself to it, once dreaming of becoming a music teacher for the developmentally disabled so I could create joy and connection through sound. That dream still lives in me, but I also joke that if the world ever stopped loving good food, I’d happily pursue music full time. Whether I’m playing guitar, composing, or experimenting in the kitchen, my life blends musical passion with culinary curiosity. I see life as a grand composition—one filled with rhythm, flavor, and laughter.

What is your favorite Protein to cook with?

My top 3 favorites would be a tantalizing array of seafood, succulent pork, and a delightful selection of mushrooms, including the exotic lion's mane, robust portobello, and earthy hen of the woods. These versatile fungi not only serve as delicious meat substitutes but can also be prepared and cooked in a myriad of ways, adding rich flavors and textures to any dish.
